This is the first of my 12 Days of Drabbles. Every day from now until the 24th, I'll post a drabble loosely based on a line from "12 Days of Christmas". By loosely based, I mean "kinda sorta maybe could see it coming from there" because I don't know how I'd fit 10 leaping lords into a fic. ;; /lazy
Anyway, here's Day 1! Hope you enjoy!
Day 1 - "Partridge"
Title: Even the Bird Hates It
Word Count: 213
Characters: Roy, Riza
Summary: A bird has an opinion on Roy's mustache.
“—it’s ungrateful; all the smoothing I did after that incident in West City. He should learn to be more respectful.”
Hawkeye gave a sigh. “I suppose, Sir.”
They stepped out the doors of Central Military HQ and out into an overcast sky. “And did you see what FullMetal sent me?”
“You mean the pictures of his new daughter?” Hawkeye said with a little smile.
“No, in the letter,” Roy frowned, adjusting the hat on his head. “He asked me if you had been drawing on my face with a grease pen.”
His subordinate tried hard not to laugh. “Well it’s…different, Sir.”
“Hmph.” Roy ran his finger across the proud mustache on his upper lip. “I’m going to be Furher one day, and I need to look the part.”
There was a caw of a bird as they passed under a tree. “If you say so, Sir.”
Another caw and a brown form took off in a fluttering of wings. The tiny shadow passed over them both, and then—
Roy froze on the spot, horrified expression on his face as a gooey white substance dripped off the brim of his hat.
For her credit, Hawkeye tried very hard not to laugh. “Well, Sir, I think someone around here has expressed their opinion.”
